Zeraora isn't actually just a new Pokemon, it's the new Pikachu because the Ash-based anime is finally ending. That's why the last few movies are retro-based and the SM anime is just a low-quality rehash slow-kill to ease fans off the old anime and show the old characters one last time.

The games might actually follow through and the first 806 mons will be removed in future generations.
