Gamefreak doesn't care about actual fairies in mythology. The whole type is just them buffing their stupid pink blobs and nerfing dragon. What makes me laugh is that people defended fairy type when it was introduced saying "fairies won't just be pink blobs, they'll have dark fey just like those ones in the stories!"

I don't think there's much need, I reckon most people on this board about that fact by now.
Speaking of which, I think Gen 7 actually did a good job of introducing Fairy-type Pokémon that are more in line with actual fairy folklore. Morelull & Shiinotic, Mimikyu and the Tapus all come to mind. Even Cutiefly & Ribombee fit the bill thanks to bee flies acting like changelings in real life.

Normal type bearmon that evolves into fire/normal or ice/normal depending on gender.

Frogmon that evolves into husbando/waifumon when it reaches full happiness

Pigmon that evolves from Ground to Rock and eventually steel type, wears armor based on current type.

I got nothing else, not much knowledgeable about fairy tales.
