No they didn't. Read the interview and you'll know what i'm talking about. Yajima explicitly stated that "serena's toes floated in the air to make it look like THEY were kissing".
"They" is the keyword here. If it was a kiss on the cheek then he would have said SHE kissed him. Even the director beside him commented that "THEY were definitely kissing".
