I got into an argument with someone in the "last good pokemon game" thread and he/she want me to name some redeemable traits of Gen 7 and I did. I mentioned Mantine Surfing, the Ultra Necrozma battle, Lillie, the Rainbow Rocket post-game episode and he said those don't count. Is he/she right? Are SM/USUM complete trash? I'm at a loss of words. Everything I like about Gen 7 is a lie. I'm feeling depressed right now...

I personally liked Gen 7, though I've only played SM, and only to the end of the main story. Speaking of which, I liked the story, it reminded me of both EarthBound and BW for some reason.

Also I like Z Moves infinitely more than Mega Evolutions

The Trials were a nice deviation from the Gym Leaders we've had in the past,

However, the balancing is even worse than Generation 6, if that's even possible. I think that if they did release SM before XY, then it would've been way more balanced, and a worthy successor to BW/B2W2.

I have yet to play USUM yet, tho, so I don't have an opinion on it yet.

The first time I played Moon I loved it. I bought the bundle with Sun included and I couldn't bring myself to even get through the second island.
There are just so many cutscenes, so much handholding, you barely feel like you're playing a game.
I hate what Pokemon has become. I know it's always been aimed for kids, so I guess we should blame today's kids.

No bullshit cutscene, no explanation from an annoying gay-ass character, no "you need to save the world" bullshit (that did happen earlier but you only had to fight it), this time it was just a pokemon waiting to be caught, like in the older games.
The games need more of this.

Now that you think of it, that would be nice. Did Gen 5 have events like Gen 4?

I think Lillie gets her new outfit as part of her character development, but alright.

Honestly gen 6 and 7 personally i found alot more boring story wise alot of good set up but then no majorly good climax to those storys

While they added some fun minigame stuff most are very repetitive with little benefit to keep playing

The ultra necrozma battle was pretfy cool but felt a little boring once it was defeated it was kind of like wow you beat it then nothing impressive

Rainbow rockets a nice throw back but i wish it was a much bigger plot point to the post game just felt a little lacking to me

While no pokemon game is perfect it would be nice to have more intresting plots that are actually explored and maybe some deeper personality to the NPCs things like gen 4 and gen 5 had deeper stories that came to a head with a massive setup and conclusion even the remakes have some cool events that made things interesting but while the 3ds generation had some awsome mechanics and 3d models big leaps for the franchise i do feel there story telling and characters were lacking.

Gen VII is flawed and I can see why people may consider it terrible, but it still has objectively decent, functional games. So even if it was the “worst” generation, that’s just by the franchise’s standards, meaning they’re still an enjoyable experience.

The only thing that I feel would make a Pokemon game truly terrible would be technical issues, because those are the real game-ruiners. The only thing the franchise’s has close enough to that would be Gen IV’s slowness and Gen I’s plethora of glitches.

Also Lillie is shit.

Also, do you mean the 200+ post, 37 poster thread? Just leave it be. Sounds defeatist, but what's the point? Unless you get off to it, it's just autist vs autist at this point. Anyone probably has something better to do. If you want to discuss things that you liked, there are better way then replaying to bait or gen war threads. May not get as many (you)s, but it would probably at least make for a decent thread.

They charged 40 bucks for (ultra changes) just to play sun and moon again a year later with marginal changes that amount to simple add on DLC at best in the same wold where BW2 and HG/SS exists. Not even mentioning how they freaking regressed on online features and training from gen 6.

Did I enjoy a good portion of the games? Sure. The problem is that GF already showed us they can do better and are actively choosing not to do it. That's much worse than the games simply being mediocre.
