I'm starting to think it's a guarantee that we'll see Pokemon Switch at E3. If it's a 2018 title, of course it will be there. If it's 2019, I would expect it to be early 2019, which I think would still mean it would appear at E3, it's too big an event to pass up.
Anyone else thinking this way?

I think it's shipping this November, so an E3 reveal wouldn't be too far out the equation (think it'll be earlier and it's own separate thing though).

Unless there's some form of footage or at the very least anything beyond a working title it doesn't count. We don't even know if they're still gonna do separate versions.

We might get a title drop e3 but I think we'll get the actual trailer in august during the championship. And we won't see the new games until March.

They haven't released zeraora yet and won't for Japan until July and if they release it with the movie in US, that'll be in most likely October.

Because of that, I don't think they'll focus on releasing a Pokemon for the 3ds when the switch version is coming out a month or 2 later.

will people really buy a 60 dollar game 2-4 times? I know it's a meme to say pokemon fans will buy anything but there has to be a line somewhere

To me is very possible that this E3 (or the same month but another direct focused on Pokemon alone) will be used for game teased last year:Metroid and Pokemon.
Or perhaps Pkmn Switch will get a singular Direct only for it perhaps?
I hope so, i'm excited about the possible new region and game style(if Southeast asia\chinese mishmash rumors are true even more).

The closest thing we got to that was the johto beasts and how it connected to black and white. But even then, we had months of focus on them in gen 4 before gen 5 came around. (And we had a movie focus on gen 5 before it came out)

I don't know but I'm ready for 8th generation of Pokémon to hurry up and come out.

7th generation of Pokémon only had 87 new Pokémon introduced in it.

There is not enough new Pokémon to keep me waiting on another new Pokémon for 2 or 3 years this time.

What was the other times? For a cross gen Pokemon situation? I don't remember. Black and white was a special case.

Of course its going to show up, this is the first time a main series Pokemon game has come to a home console and its going to generate a lot of hype. I would be amazed if they showed it before or after e3 instead of on e3. Pokemon is one of Nintendo's biggest titles and the Switch is massively successful so it seems pretty obvious to me.

There's no reason to buy two versions any more. You can watch cutscenes of "exclusive" content online and "exclusive" Pokemon are more easy to obtain than ever before. This gimmick ran it's course and lost any logic outside of "more money" when Wi-Fi trading got introduced.
