Redpill me on this game.

I've not played pokemon since emerald apart from black 2 and I loved it.

Is this game good or shit, I see a lot of varied opinions about the slow start and the boring story etc.

The issue with Gen 4 is the pacing. Everything from walking to battles is extremely slow. The good thing i realized recently though is that because i've been playing gen 1 on the Virtual console i didn't notice the slow pace when i started my Platinum Nuzlocke. TL;DR The game is super slow but still good.

There’s a massive difficulty spike, as everyone’s Pokemon is 5 levels higher than mine.

It's hard to tell what's a bait thread and what's not when half the threads start with a boxart image.

That said, Platinum does have it's flaws, but it's the best way to play Sinnoh. Platinum is essentially the game Diamond and Pearl should have been in the first place. The biggest flaw is the game's general sluggishness with movement and text and such, but even then Platinum does better than DP in that regard.

It's emerald except slower and with a cold region instead of a tropical one. It also has the best trainer battles in the series; even random ace trainers have better teams than most gym leaders in other games.

Don't play it on an official cartridge because the hardware used in those is shit and makes saving take forever. A flashcart or drastic will fix this, though desmume won't because it's also shit.

Regardless, the region’s lore is good, the design of the region itself I think is top-notch, and the trainer battles, as an anon has said, can’t be beat. Music is all piano-y and great, and the champion in platinum is *the best* of the series.
Oh, and with the distortion world I’d argue that the lengendary plot of platinum has the best climax of any other game.
