Pretty awful "counter" considering you'll break your disguise for nothing just for it to U-Turn out.

I can give you Mantine, Dusclops, and Jellicent but that only leaves three counters.

A counter has to be able to switch into EVERY set of a Pokemon with no issue, and then either force it out or outright beat it in a 1v1. What you named were a few counters and a bunch of checks. Genesect, Aegislash, Blaziken and Mega-Metagross all have checks too. Didn't stop either one of them from getting banned

A Pokemon doesn't have to have counters to be banned or not, all it needs to do is overcentralize the metagame or completely invalidate a playstyle. For example. Mega-Gengar's ban happened because stall in OU was completely dead. Stall couldn't do a single thing to Mega-Gengar at all. If you were running a stall team, and the other team just happened to to have a Mega-Gengar, you just flat out lose no if's, and, or butts about it.

In gen 5, Hydreigon had zero counters but the reason it didn't overcentralize the meta like how Pheromosa did in early SM meta was that Hydreigon's base 98 speed held it back a lot and it's dark typing did more harm than good for it.

Not true. I can think of 2 for each.

And it's that further discretion I disagreed was more valuable than the fact that it does have counters. People failed to adapt and just wanted it gone -- it was funny, people were more willing to adapt Pheromosa sets than adapt in terms of accounting for it. Because when you do, it's fine as an OU mon. There are a lot of things we already have to just play around in OU assuming we don't have the one or two stops to it. Offensive Lando-T, Mega Medicham, Magearna, Kyurem-B, and Hawlucha come to mind.

What especially insulted me at the time was that Mega Metagross was more pressing at the time and they still prioritized Pheromosa. I can't count on my fingers how many times M-Meta has cheesed past Phys. Def. Hippowdon. M-Scizor was the safest bet and you'd of course see HP Fire variants or risk being trapped by Magnezone.

Yeah and with clarification that the U-Turn-clickable set does have plenty of counters that difference is that it's going to be netting a lot less kills than the wallbreaker will.

Besides, you can apply that scenario to Koko and other fast aggressive pivoters. You threaten X and just pivot out on Y.

I still find the protean gren ban last gen pretty dumb. Power kreep hasnt really caught up with it and its still not that disgusting to deserve a ban. Tonnes of offensive mons with deep movepools have existed in OU. Would you ban Heatran because it can run like 8 different sets and wuth the wrong guess you lose a mon? No. So why gren? So dumb.

OU, sometimes PU although I'm bad at it. Did a lot of UU last gen but this gen's UU is retarded and faggy to the extreme so I haven't bothered.
Offensive strategies, usually HO with a fun gimmick like weather (especially Rain, I did well with Rain last gen), Sticky Web, stuff like that, I've done all right with Bulky Offense in the past too.
Their most retarded decision is by far how their suspect tests work. It just makes me laugh how they try to let everyone think they're a democratic meritocracy. It's clearly an insider thing and you have to be with the in-crowd to have any real sway in the decisions.

And yes, I think some of the councils are secretly karenfags who amassed a lot of skill from playing a long time and do in fact play favorites and manipulate stuff to make their bros good.

Most tyrannical and biased council, they quickban shit like Crawdaunt last gen that turns out totally fine and fair (many people even said it was inferior to Hydreigon as a Dark type wallbreaker)

They claim they want to keep UU balanced and fair at al times, and that why they're so skittish with letting new stuff in, but most people wouldn't say UU is particularly balanced or fair, since the council overwhelmingly prefers defensive strategy and won't let something drop unless it has, like, 4 or 5 common switch-ins. It's a miracle they even let Mamoswine live down there the last few months before it rose back to OU last update.

Also UU is home to a lot of pokemon people just don't like playing against, like Suicune, Mega Manectric, etc.

That's the point, there's no sure fire counters to it. You may invest to counter one type of Phero but another different type may fuck you and you will lose one mon.

Whoa, that's new. It's not even listed anywhere on Hydreigon's Smogon page yet, I had to look it up on Serebii to confirm that it wasn't just omitted for being a shitty move. Does that mean Azumarill (and by extension Fini) countered Hydreigon until USUM? Is Hydreigon the only Pokemon that can viably run Belch in any competitive setting? Will Game Freak ever introduce a second held item slot just for berries some day?

Yeah people really did alot of unnecessary shit like that. Some of progrens biggest counters were around and usable in gen 6 OU as well. Amoongus and Mega Saur, Alomomola, Ferrothorn. Mega Manectric was also good in gen 6 and scarf keldeo/latios were the meta so its not like there werent options. In fact Id say its worse in gen 6 then it is now since water shuriken is physical and no z crystals make extrasensory underwhelming and only really a tech option for keldeo predicts. I dont get why they still have it banned for oras ou.

I don't play stall, but I have an issue with how it makes the labels seem entirely arbitrary when you say your team is still True Stall/Full Stall, when you have a Pokemon who is clearly designed to get KO's through direct, aggressive damage.

I heard plenty of arguments that True/Full Stall was dead. Not that Stall as a whole was dead, because Semi-stall still existed.

If you have an offensive Pokemon, it's no longer a Full/True Stall composition, it's Semi-Stall. The same goes for having a defensive Pokemon for Hyper Offensive; it's no longer an HO team, now it's just Offensive.

If you can call your team whatever, why bother having labels anyways. I can have a Weavile, Megazard X, Excadrill, Scizor, Tyranitar and Garchomp team and call it Stall at that point.

The tl;dr is we need some type of objective and defined label for these things, because the major issue is the layers of subjectivity to team composition vs what you call your team.

Full stall is in fact dead and has been since around gen 5.
People just call the current setup of 5 walls+trapper stall instead of semi stall since it's the closest you can get to true stall now a days.

Not really I would say that normal is like in the top three types next to fairy and psychic in no real order in monotype. Normal has the bulk core of Chansey and Porygon2, with Ditto as a revenge killer and Lopunny basically breaking offensive teams. It's really good because Fighting is shit. It's also stupidly easy to use, just switch into special attackers with Chansey and physical attackers with Porygon2 and if they ever have the balls to set up switch in Ditto.

Lando's speed EV's are to outspeed stuff that speedcreeps defensive Lando, Wish Jirachi because you get a guaranteed Wish off as people suspect a standard set. I also wanted a Wish passer that can't die to toxic and has a fairy immunity. Terrakion can live a special hit (in sand) and murder stuff so that's why I paired it with M-Ttar. Both sets are self-explanatory really. (EQ and Poison Jab are interchangeable) I tried Heatran over Fini as a taunt mon but misty terrain is really valuable on a team that heavily relies on its physical attackers to put in work. Also needed a Water resist. Energy ball over Focus Miss on Lele because fuck unaware Quagsire.
