Why is feraligatr RU? I have been climbing the ladder with it on a rain team and have made it to 1500+ so far in OU. Scarf liquidation in rain damn near 1 shot's the whole meta.

Having said that, these calcs aren't super impressive. You could probably achieve very similar results with another rain sweeper like qwilfish.

It’s RU because it’s outclassed in the above tiers. Crawdaunt, Gyarados, Mega Swampert, Azumarill are all better than it is. Which is fine, it does really well in RU.

It isn't bad per se, but it relies on rain to get those juicy OHKOs you advertised. Also many common walls in OU like Ferrothorn and Toxapex can really ruin this set.

It's good enough for UU but it's outclassed by other water types and there are some walls (like Quagsire) that fuck it over.
It needs a mega and better movepool to be worth anything other Gyarados/Azumarill.

That's a one-sided way to put it, since you gain resists as well, along with a secondary STAB. Scald has a chance to burn and Hydro Pump has a lot of power behind it in rain. Feraligatr will just be doing damage since its side effects would be dropped.

I like Feraligatr too, but he'll always be stuck in mid-low rankings, even when the rankings are based on usage.

I think that stance you have is part of why you're unsure how it's RU, especially when talking about a Scarfer. It's better to have more moves to switch into than to have more moves to switch out from, since you're aiming to get the mon in and fire off big attacks.

Besides, why not Kingler? It's stronger and has Superpower and Knock Off and a strong neutral Normal STAB or Stomping Tantrum if that suits your fancy. Neither Scarf Feraligatr EQ nor Scarf Kingler Stomping Tantrum is breaking Toxapex so you could just neutralize that as a point altogether and skip Ground consideration.

Get to that and your opinions will be worth something.

I personally love Feraligatr, and it can hit hard, but you're claiming "it's good under certain circumstances / with the right support / as long as my opponent doesn't have a counter", which you can say about most Pokémon.

Also, it's fairly bulky so can usually take one hit, why not run Dragon Dance + Life Orb instead? You end up with the same speed tier as you would with scarf, the same damage boost you would get by rain plus the life orb boost, to all of your attacks instead of just liquidation

Suspects usually require coil and gxe.
Typically you need 80% gxe.

I'm not him but it's a valid statement. Results speak for themselves. When I've done ladders in the past getting to the midtiers wasn't exactly easy but it was readily doable. Had a core of Golisopod and Mimikyu I was using to always get my Fairy in when I wanted. Choice Band of the bug and pure defensive EV. It went rather well (especially if you can read damage calcs)

However as soon as I got to about 1600 in the ladder I got stepped on like I didnt know how to play the game.

Going to that point and beyond both shows your merit as a player and the pokemon's actual usefulness. If it starts becoming consistent dead weight that's where you will see it, up fighting better opponents and more optimized teams. If the pokemon is legitimately good... that's also when it will make its mark.

The poster probably could have said it on a nicer way but I get what he is saying. Take the pokemon all the way and prove its worth. Show us replays. Those show how good it can really be.
