I like bulbasaur and ivysaur's designs, but I think venusaur is UGLY and wouldn't be as popular as it is if it weren't a gen 1 starter.

Bulbasaur line has higher highs but a much lower low, and it's the stage that matters most.
I'm guessing OP didn't use chespin line because everyone would dislike that more?

I like both these guys but Sceptile is actually my favorite starter from that gen, unlike Venusaur who I feel gets overshadowed by Blastoise (pre-Megas anyhow, since Mega Blastoise is hot garbage and Mega Venusaur is the only starter one that's pretty cool).

What did you do to deserve this?

M-Venu is awesome competitively, but is meh. M-Sceptile is the opposite.

Overall i like Bulba line better, even though Venusaur is the worst of all 6.

It's unfortunate that the Bulba line was cursed by the shittiest artist at GameFreak as their designer.
If they were designed by Nishida like the Squirtle and Charmander line they would be much more loved and more popular. But that retarded faggot decided to make something that is too hard for his skills, and he admitted that, but still carried on doing it which resulted in creating the ugly Venusaur and even uglier Mega Venusaur.
Venusaur needs a redesign by someone competent.

For me, Green's Venusaur was the best.
It looked menacing, a pure monster looking one, not goofy or sleepy or high or anything.
it looks like it's there for your blood.
Also loved how it had dark patches like its prevos instead of pimples. Gamefreak should have made this the canon design over Sugimori's one.
