The long version is that sometimes yes, they have a large batch of new lines coming out with a new anime or a new game, but also have a lot of single line releases for the same scenario. But since it's not like Pokemon and there's not a hard timeline on it all with data for every monster in one game, it's a lot harder to gauge.
For example you can point to Volcanion as a Gen 6 Pokemon, as its data was in the Gen 6 games. But it's harder to do that with say, Hudiemon, as it was designed and included in one game, not a whole generation of games.
