The next games will neither be Generation 8 or Kanto Remakes. It also wont be another Alola game.

It will be Sinnoh Remakes with new Pokemon (at least one Mythical).

It cant be Generation 8 because if it was a Generation 8 game, they would have revealed it by now. Or/As wasn't revealed until May and it came out in November so Diamond and Pearl remakes can be revealed in June and still come out December 2018 because there will be a 2018 game, all evidence points toward to it and 2019 will be a break year.

There will be new Pokemon because we need a Mythical for the Summer 2019 movie and since they usually pair old mythical with new mythical... we don't have any more mythical's to spare.

Gyms being removed and new Pokemon in the middle of a new gen don't happen so it wont... Oh wait...
