I enjoyed the series in Kanto and Johto enough to say go for it. I haven't kept up with it in a long while though.

I bought the first box set and read the firt 3 books of 7, which was the end of the first major storyline. It was well worth the price desu, I really enjoyed it and I have never read any manga before this
