In Rescue Team, you are told that the rising number of cataclysms make Pokemon unruly.
In Explorers, you can assume that all Pokemon are outlaws, dunno.

This too as seen in many encounters (Articuno in Rescue or Luxray/Manectric in Explorers).

Side question: what other games than the NDS versions use the random recruit chance after battle mechanic? I haven't played the 3DS games but heard you basically get Pokemon just handed to you.

The distortion of time made Pokemon go feral in Explorers. Natural disasters caused it in RT. I'd assume the Pokemon that join your team end up being snapped back into reality once they're defeated.

Wiiware is basically identical to Sky gameplay-wise, just with shit visuals and music, and Gates still has recruiting though a lot of other things are watered down.

In Super you get pokémon in various ways, but only one of each, it's like a giant network that when you recruit one you can do missions and quests to recruit the next and so on. Also they don't evolve/change forms, you simply recruit it's evolution/other form.
