The "all the Pokemon are brand new" thing only works if the Pokemon designs are good. Unfortunately for gen 5, that isn't the case.

Apart from the handling of the Zoroark event, nothing really. They're still bar none the best initial versions. The plot was actually pretty good and you pick up on some of the subtler aspects on later playthroughs.
