Pretty much this. Gens 1/2 were awful, but Platinum added tons of shit, and emerald had the battle frontier which could add 100 hours easily. I'm not fond of the BF, but it's not like Rainbow Rocket which not only is lazy, but it's short and you can never do it again. Then all that's left is taking pictures with embarrassing resolution backgrounds, and mantine fucking surfing

That's a bad thing though. Replacing parts of the original story with shitty fanfic trash is a terrible idea. Instead of having a shit game with no content and a 3rd version with more content, we got a shit game with no content and a remixed 3rd version with no content.

I will say it again. Battle frontier is a meme that’s only 20% of the username actively enjoys. I’ve seen normalfags play it a couple one or twice then never touch it again.

You know why? Because it fucking sucks. Who the hell wants to play an extremely repetitive series of battles that actively tries to screw over the player the longer you go on until you eventually lose to some literal who with a sheer cold wallrien. It’s just not fun for most people. Maybe if your autistiv enough to enjoy it but for most of the player base it gets boring very quickly. Stop pushing your meme frontier

I have come to terms with the fact that the first in a generation will always lack post game. I'm fine with that, the base campaigns do have lots of content, and just because I'd like tons of post game, I would be lying if I said the main campaign of Sun wasn't worth 40 dollars. But when they create an enhanced verison, that's where they should be making post game. That's my favorite part of the games, and it's a FUCKIGN SLAP TO THE FACE that they can't even bother with that any more. They just add some 90 minute "episode" and call it a day. Fuck those greedy pieces of shit, seriously.

I also will be less forgiving when the games cost 60 dollars and there's no post game even in the first of the gen.

I said in my post already that I'm not even that huge a fan of BF, but at least there was content to keep dedicated players busy. Gym leader rematches are things that probably aren't too difficult to implement, and most people would enjoy. They could even turn it into a "second quest" deal where the gym leaders give you gold badges the second time, collecting all of which unlocks a more difficult elite 4, then give some reward after that. So fucking easy, and people would love it. They are that lazy they won't do that though.

Ever since Gen 5, GameFreak realized the ease of access regarding battling randoms online meant that the games had effectively "infinite" postgame (until the online services get shut down, but by then you're already expected to be on the games 2-3 generations after the one that's getting shut down) and didn't see any need to put effort beyond the obligatory Battle Facility to obtain BP, Mass-Legendary Hunt for the sole purpose of obtaining the same Pokemon for the 5th Time because THESE ones have a Mark that allow them to be used in regular formats for the current Gen, and various shitty sidequests for Mega Stones, TMs and/or Z-Crystals so they don't overload the BP Shops.
And since "an extreme minority" only truly enjoyed the Battle Frontier and other nice things, why bother when you can appease the Lowest Common Denominator by removing any semblance of challenge outside of PvP, and only leave Singleplayer with having to worry about getting bad luck against a luck-based set in the Battle Gloryhole for the fiftieth time?

If Gamefreak wasn't confident they could make the changes better, or put much more effort into the story, then they should have put ALL NEW content after the game, instead of removing content in exchange for arguably worse content

Everyone is fine with the "sequel" approach, most people would be fine with the "lots of post game" approach, fucking nobody asked for the "alternate story" approach, it's an innovative new way to be lazy fucks

I'm also the person who said they aren't a huge fan of them, I much prefer having lots of new areas to explore/minigames like contests/pokeathlon/rematches/casinos/safari zones/etc

I can appreciate some battle facilities, but the ones that are really plain only do it for me so much. I really wish they would allow for teams of 6, then I would feel capable of actually team building/strategizing. When you only have 3 pokemon and 12 moves, I don't know how they expect people to survive against 800+ potential enemies

And you can battle her again in title defense anyway. Say what you will, but they actually gave you a lot of rematches in these games, between normal rematches, Mina’s trial, title defense, and Battle Tree.
