Fire Emblem isn't Pokemon. There's a reason Awakning's marketing in the west was all "Look it's that guy from Smash Brothers" TPC won't reveal shit if they don't want too and it wouldn't affect them in the slightest.

Even if Greninja was just added from concept art, when it´s trailer came out the public already knew him for a good 7 months, enough to gather popularity.

Because it's mid April, new gens get revealed by now. Remakes/enhanced editions are May/June territoray.

They actually don't. They, Gamefreak, and Creatures, all own a third of it and Nintendo only owns a small piece of creatures, not enough to have 50% control.

I think they either choose a starter or a "popular" pokémon (but I really don't what the implies..., it's Mimikyu popular? it's alolan raichu or bewear popular?). They can choose Decidueye following the pattern they already added a Fire Starter alone and a Water Starter alone, but if Incineroar is popular, they may added under the luchador concept. Or even Zeraora for marketing, but we never know.

Nintendo originally wanted more 3D in SM, GF told them to go fuck themselves, and then eventually agreed to add 3D for in-battle only. So, o, Nintendo can't just tell GF what to do. Their job is just to publish what GF makes.
