I really liked Generation 5 but I felt like its post game was easily its weakest attribute. The towns at the back end of the map were cozy, but ultimately unfulfilling. The Battle Subway hardly has as much charm as the Battle Tower, let alone the entire Battle Frontier. The Pokemon World Tournament is whatever.

I think it's better than the Tower because of the lack of RNG and you can very easily make custom ones through hacking. PWT got stale though when it was the only facility worth playing and it would have been GOAT if they merged it with Dome in ORAS.

I don't know. I really did not like X/Y. Sun and Moon were inoffensive, and I'm enjoying Ultra Sun/Moon so far but I'm still on Route 1. So far I just like how it feels like the player has more agency than they did in Sun/Moon. Little changes like you getting attacked and being rescued by your starter not 5 minutes into the game, or having to fight the Sparrow at the bridge before you're saved by Tapu Koko make all the difference in the world.

Ultimately, this anon (it's not just one guy, that's retarded) has a point, and stifling the discussion on it isn't going to do anything but slowdown and stagnate a relatively niche board. If people want to talk about the quality of these games, then they should be able to do that. If they don't, they don't have to post in these threads. Censorship isn't the answer.

I don't think Gen 7 was inherently bad, I think the games were slightly worse than they've been, and that makes them seem awful. It's like Dark Souls 1 and Dark Souls 2, 2 wasn't a bad game, but it was way worse than 1, so people think it's a shit game.
We know GF can do better, they've done better in the past.

Gen 7 has dark tidings for things to come. It's going to be the last mainline Pokemon game for 3DS, everything upcoming will be for Switch. So if you want to play online or anything like that, you're restricted to Sun/Moon.
The idea that postgame content isn't desired by the playerbase means GF won't have any need to include it in the Switch version. So the Switch version might have even less postgame than Gen 7, and the game will be more expensive on a more expensive system.

I liked PWT quite a bit. I like the idea of battle facilities, but don't want to waste dozens of hours of my life losing a 48 streak because of a minimize rotom

Really liked it a lot, because I enjoy fighting well crafted teams of 6 that are a challenge. Not 3v3 where team building barely exists with that few pokemon, and not randomly generated gimmick mons that keep getting thrown at you in random combinations until one finds a chink in your armor

i dont really want facilities or stories as post game

i want new high level zones with some caves to explore and legends within it

otherwise make the whole region level up, it's sad the first roads become irrelevant because the lvls are too low

I basically just need a new reason to go around the region

This. I was hoping USUM would have a fifth island, with high level routes/trainers. MAYBE add a little more story, but fine without it. Maybe have a few trials/totems throughout and end it with a superboss trainer. nice contextual way to add more pokemon besides "lol wormholes."

I also am not completely against minigames, I liked pokeathlon, voltorb flip, some contests, etc. But fuck mantine surf

Gen 4 had by far the best post game, at least for pokemon standards.
