3D is modular, which is its best advantage over sprites.

Sprites are easier to exaggerate, but doing so is far more labor intensive.

2D. Ever since XY Game Freak has been putting most of their resources into making their 3D models and environments as bland as possible instead of focusing on other aspects of the game like story and postgame content.

The problem with Pokemon is that no matter how much content they want to cut, they absolutely have to include these 800+ pokemon; omitting any of them would be the one thing fans wouldn't forgive. Hence they look for other ways to be lazy about.

How many characters to animate does DQ have again?

I don't think it really helps the newer Pokémon that much because they've always been this washed out.
The older Pokémon, however, really need to be dewashed because they look fucking awful.

This. The main reason the models look awful is because Pokemon just sit around looking bored in battle.

primarina is too dark especially considering the its design and typing

GameFreak's better off having subcontractors and co-developers.

Creatures provides the models, GameFreak designs the moves/lore and they probably should outsource the Pokémon battle animations just to keep their hands free on the rest of the game.

Am I wrong?

GoD and Colo's models feel more alive. Pokemon like Wailord are fucking swimming, Pokemon that are flying like Pidgeotto are flying, but struggling to stay in place, Humanoid Pokemon are in fighting stances and bounce noticeably. It's is 100% on whoever animated them.

I personally prefer sprites, and really wish they would go back, but this is the only answer. PLEASE UNFUCK THE ANIMATIONS. The colors may be shit, but the animations are the worst thing ever to happen to the Pokemon themselves.

That's not a problem tho, since the models are already futureproofed (Primarina for example has a polygon count rivaling the fighters from Soul Calibur), and they already have walking/running animations too

Incineroar is great. Still iffy on primarina and lunala. The white on dewashed primarina is dingy. Lunala is too saturated making it hard on the eyes.
