HGSS's only flaw is the level curve.

It fixed Pokemon distribution by making some Johto mons available in the safari zone and by having gen IV evos for weaker Johto mons(Ambipom, Mamoswine etc). And it fixed empty Kanto with the Safari Zone and gym rematches.

but in all honestly gen v was the only game they actually put mental effort in when you think about it. From math to music, everything about it was well written. I'm not saying it doesn't have flaws, but it is a well-rounded generation with an interesting-some what more mature story.

>Pokemon was a good game once and not an extremely mediocre franchise that only succeeded because GameFreak managed to strike gold with the concept and then used their gold to utilize extreme marketing tactics for Pokemon's western release which led to them striking a goldmine that stretches out forever without ever having to put in any serious effort other than to produce a game that can function 95% of the time and designing new marketable creatures as well as a single character that will now be designated as that generation's waifubait and proceed to make the game even more successful because she's an extremely bland stereotype that only exists to stroke your ego and make you want to buy merchandise of her by being a useless kawaii uguu girl who's somehow the center of the plot despite not doing anything at all without your involvement and let's be honest you're only still clinging to this franchise because there's literally no other solid options other than SMT and Digimon because GameFreak holds a monopoly on the Monster Catching Sub-Genre to a point where no one else wants to try, but you've already played all the SMT and Digimon Games of note so you're now having to experience Battered Wife Syndrome as you return to Pokemon's eternal mediocrity as you wait for someone else to step up to the ring and try to make a decent Monster Catching Game and if they do try, it ends up falling flat in the sales aspect unless their name is "Dragon Quest Monsters" but Square Enix refuses to localize that franchise in general unless it's a once-in-a-blue-moon occurrence to make western fans shut up just so they can be like "well shit this didn't sell five billion copies guess you don't want Dragon Quest sorry" as you feel dejected yet again that Dragon Quest Monsters still won't come over to the West
