Terrestrial crabs are a real life thing, so that can easily be chalked up to /vp/ and /v/ assuming they had rules of nature downpat and blaming Pokémon for being ignorant.

As for Sandile and Hippotas, the idea of Pokémon being based on animals and dwelling in different habitats than their real life counterpart should be expected. Though crocodiles in real life are land dwellers.
