>>35403173>"muh melodies">neither of those things are missing from the newer soundtracksIf you actually read the arguments people exposed half a thread ago, you would know you got 2 things completely wrong.
First, nobody is saying the melodies are "missing". They're still there, however their importance and roll over the rest of the components seem to have shifted in the newer generations. People are commenting how the mindset in composition has changed in favor of bass over melody, and why they think that produces worse results. And the ones with those hot opinions did explain all of that.
You just came without reading the thread, and shouted "nostalgiafags!!".
Second, nobody is saying that ALL of the tracks suffer from this. They were talking about the OSTs as a whole. People admitted that despite the changes there are still some good tracks. I mean, nobody would have the guts to claim Laverre's theme is not melody-dominant: it's practically screaming at you.
So sure, you can nitpick some tracks where the melody is still the clear dominant factor, but the point is that the other composition style people are talking about has become way more prevalent in these last 2 gens.
Just compare ORAS versions to RSE; it's almost a study on how too much loud bass can muffle the rest of the music. And you know what's funny about ORAS? One of the few tracks that didn't suffer from this "bass muffling", was also one of the few news:
