It's pretty clear that this board is mostly people in the late teens/early 20s (the sweet spot age group for gen 4-5), and as they enter adulthood are starting to realize that Pokemon's single player isn't the endless timesink that it was as a kid. The trend of saying gen 6-7 are terrible as if they're radically different from the rest of the series was always ridiculous and shows a clear bias, we are still playing the same core game with different flavours. This is the exact kind of shit that happened when Ruby/Sapphire released.
Or maybe I'm just underestimating the autism of a few vocal shitposters, because the 3DS era isn't as hated in other areas of the fanbase from what I can tell.
