most players use female pokemon to not get attracted. At least that was the logic way back then. Obviously now u can just run a male with attract.

Back when I used to take battling seriously, I would always set my genders to female if possible. You have to take into account EVERYTHING. That includes retards using attract. They're usually female mons, so obviously the dumb strat would fail. It's the little things that add up, like 0 attack IVs in case of confusion/foul play.

That made sense on Pokémon Online because mons used to default as male, on Showdown the gender is randomized so there is no "attract meta".
