I really enjoy how, unlike the other two, Articuno's design is very subtle in how it conveys the idea of "ice". For me, personally, Ice has always represented this glass-like aesthetic, the idea of something that's both fragile and beautiful, and Articuno manages to capture this type of aesthetic phenomenally. The coloration, the flowing, thin tail, and the rigid gem esque crest all convey the ideas of ice, without explicitly covering the bird in its element like a certain other legendary. This carries the added bonus of making Articuno the only one of the three that actually resembles a bird, though in a way that's majestic enough that it's difficult to mistake it for anything mundane.

Absolute garbage in so many ways. It unfortunately falls victim to GF's absolute hate boner for ice types, and despite its appearance and typing GF decided, for some god forsaken reason, to make it a tank, a role which it absolutely sucks at. It's a shame, since it's actually pretty good in Gen I, but unfortunately pretty much every major change mechanically has done nothing but fuck the poor bird over more and more.
