Gen 7 has the 2nd strongest cast of characters in any Pokemon game, only losing to Gen 5.
Kukui, Hau, Gladion, Guzma, Nanu, Acerola, Molayne, Mina, Hapu are all great.

Not just due to competitive viability, but design. It has a lack of distinctive human clothes and accessories beyond the fire belt (which is just its fire accessory, a la Typhlosion’s collar/Charizard’s tale) which will help it drop the fursuiter accusations way faster than the other two, and the fire/fighting memes will drop as people remember tigers are nasty buff predators in real life, so it’ll actually be seen as the “hurr just a bipedal tiger” some people say it is. It’ll become bro-tier, if more quietly so, a la Feraligatr and Greninja. The fact it was a competitive beast for at least one gen and likely stay strong for another (if not stay on/near the top) will also bring people around to it, same way as Greninja.

HGSS has great music.

Im happy that I didnt like USUM because I can finally move on from the franchise and not have to buy every game that comes out

Kanto is not the main reason for why I love HGSS, it could be removed completely and HGSS would stilll be my second favourite set of games after BW2.

Heatran was a mistake, and completely devalued the concept of a "legendary".
Dragon types are generally overrated, ugly things that only get love for being op.
I hate the generic "kaiju" final evolutions, especially Nidoking and Tyranitar.
Gen III is one of the worst gens, even considering Emerald. FRLG are the worst remakes GF has made.
Gen VII OU feel more like Uber-lite than OU, and Tapus+Lando have damaged the meta far more than weather wars ever did
Dugtrio didn't deserve to get fucked by Smogon.
I didn't even bother to buy any Gen VII games, Gen VI was just that bad.
Ultra Beasts are trash.
Blaziken looks more like a digimon than a Pokemon.

Regional expies are the most exciting part of every dex. Being able to see how each region's respective designs can differentiate their selves from past ones and the ability to compare them with each other as a group, for both a sense of familiarity or to create interactions between them regardless of nature, makes for a more interesting relationship between generations than there would be without it.

I never really got on with BW and after completing it I took my first on only break from the series. I got B2 almost year after it was released and really enjoyed it but X appeared not long after and I moved to 3DS.

I think I gorged myself on content in the leadup to the international release - mostly on /tr/ Nuzlocke streams - so playing through BW just feels like work, for lack of a better word. Nothing was new, I knew everything's stats, which were the shitmons, to be weary of Lenora's retaliate, and I'd seen most of the story. I ruined my first playthrough because I knew too much and the fond memories I have playing every other title for the first time have been replaced by watching someone shit up a Nuzlocke run with a Tsutarja named DICKS.

I alternate my time on this board between serious blogging, playing devil's advocate and false flag shitposting.

I love getting involved in starters even though the last one I actually used was infernape. I don't like any of the Gen 7 starters and my least favourite, non degenerate, part of this board are the amourshippers and Dawn fags.

I wouldn't say that. I don't hate Hoenn, but if I were to describe the games in one word, I guess it would be disappointing? A good chunk of the new mons feel like filler trash, with only a few gems between. The region itself, while diverse, just doesn't feel fun to traverse. Half the world is water but the diversity in surfing areas is laughably low. I dislike how the new EV system basically killed mixed attackers, and them plus natures just feel like another layer of minmaxing. The simplification of the day/night cycle sucked. As a kid, it just felt like such a big step back from Gen II in so many ways.

Actually, Heatran matches the Kanto Legendary Birds. Several characters outright explain that the birds are just ultra rare top tier birds of prey that happen to be in some legends

Gen II started the trend of legendaries being worshipped, ultra powerful monsters

I really like Chikorita, and I think Meganium is a fantastic design. I typically use it in Gen II runs because Feraligatr is boring and Typhlosion is an ugly sack of shit.

For me it's always been Totodile/Bayleef/Meganium but I don't really care for any of the final Gen 2 starters. Bayleef is my favourite stage of any starter to date though. It's perfect.

I hope they continue the trend of only introducing a small number of new Pokémon per new region and pad the rest of the Dex with regional forms and mons from other dexes.

The regional forms are a great way to give new life to old Pokémon and the concept of geographical variation - especially when retypings allows for the changes to be so distinct - is something they should explore more. I also wish they would be more generous with retroactive stat boosts and ability changes.

Mostly I hope they continue the supposed "pandering" to previous gens. Like it or not, the Gen 1 and 2 Pokémon put the series on the map, and GF would be fools not to recapitalise on their appeal with a generation of gamers who don't even know they exist. If they'd just show a little more love to things like Ledian when they were recycled I think we'd have a much healthier pool overall than if they continue to add 150+ new pokemon per gen; of which 70% are garbage.

TL;dr - I think too many new Pokémon is bad for the series and that reusing and updating old Pokémon is great for the franchise as a whole.

Also very in favour of remakes but don't necessarily think the ones we've had have been done as well as they could have been.

The Pokémon company should make two psuedo clones of the Pokémon main series. They would have their own namrs that aren't Pokémon but like CapuMon and Magical Creatures. They would have their own continuities, monster rosters both starting with 100-200 that mostly consist of redesigns of Pokémon, art styles, lore elements and game mechanics.

As an example sub series A would have stuff like other species like fantasy races and that also use "Pokémon" and "Pokéballs", more types and real time battle system. While sub series B would have lower level of technology than the Pokémon world and potentially ours, less types, no legendaries with counterparts to legendaries being normal Pokémon and an old school battle system.

If they space out entries enough I think they can achieve experimentation, fan satification and profit without taking a cent away from the main series.

I just completed US's RR Episode, and I think USUM is pretty damn good. Gets too much shit.
Kind of got bored with HG, I like the Pokewalker but something about the game just didn't pull me in. Also was kind of bummed with the Pokemon selection. I don't think it's a bad game by any stretch, but I couldn't get into it in the same way as BW2 or the original.
Ultra Beasts are pretty cool.

That's it I guess. I don't know if those are super contentious, but they've gotten me in hot shit in past threads.

Yeah I can readily agree to that. I like that it isn't impossibly tedious to level like in SM (i.e. in SM you barely get any FC at all from anything), and the Rocket Castle theme looks pretty good compared to the recolored paint jobs, but it's so much less convenient than the prior gen on the same device. If it was a wholly separate feature, I don't think it would be as objectionable as it is now.
I still like the wormholes, photo club, and surfing afterwards though. I've tried a dozen times but I'm still too shit to beat the Poni Course's rank. I want that surfing Pikachu.

I think this is the first game it's taken me half a year to finish when i've repeatedly replayed various other games. Rainbow Rocket doesn't excuse the weakest game story i've been forced to sit through.

Well I'll still hold that it gets way too much shit and I liked the story a great deal, but I'll agree wholeheartedly with the latter statement. By too much shit, I mean people saying it's worse than SM, it's unplayably bad, it's unmercantile goods, etc.
I'm kind of bummed that there'll never be another mid-gen sequel like BW2, which were stellar and by far my favorites. There was so much love and passion poured into them.

With that said I wholeheartedly encourage shitposting the games because it balances the best gen ever people that essentially wanted a visual novel over a tradional pokemon game.

Ah, well that's fine anon, I fully understand why people don't like them. The one complaint that I never see people have that I absolutely hate is that the regional dex has so many "trade with rare held item" evos. I completed it and it was worth it for that outfit and the charm, but man.
