desu I remember when I saw so many official corocoro leaks and announcements of Gen 5 pokemon that by the time I got the game, I basicallly seen 90% of the entire dex and I wasn't particularly surprised coming across a new pokemon. At most I'd wonder what their stats were and what moves they learned, but the legit, deep surprise of "discovering" new pokemon was ruined.

I hope next gen they don't blow their load and reveal 99% of the dex before the games come out, I'd be happy with 1-2 new Pokemon a month until the games came out.

They don't hate corocoro, they just don't need them to reveal things anymore now that directs are a thing. Komala and Rockruff were Corocoro exclusive reveals and is why we didn't see anything official about them until long after they were revealed in the magazine.

The Megas and Primals had more work put into them in terms of designing and decifing on their stats/typings/abilities/etc. than some Pokédex filler like Klang. They definitely count as new mons.

Same goes for Alola variants btw.

You probably didn't see them because of CoroCoro -- you probably saw a lot from the Spanish leaker. A lot of Gen 5 was revealed before release, but it wasn't as much of the dex as Gen 6 or Gen 7.
