When do you normally start blocking out news for new pokemon games?

I don't, especially after how shit Fennekin and Litten ended up it shows looks can be deceiving. I like to know about all the available Pokemon, but nothing about the story or lore or gameplay so that that can be a surprise. Wish they separated them somehow. Good to know mons for deciding a team too.

For XY I went on a blackout when the retail copies leaked which made my first playthrough incredibly fun, discovering some new Pokemon in-game for the first time in years. I would have done the same for SM but the demo datamine leak fucked everything up.

Blackout after couple of gameplay trailers and few revealed mons.
I am so fucking glad I managed to avoid any further news for XYORAS/SMUSUM.
Especially USUM - I took a look after completing the game. My god, they've gone full retard and spoiled, like, everything including the R episode and final bosses. And this was the best part of USUM for me (something new, unexpected, nostalgic and exciting).

Once the first stage starters are officially confirmed, I stop coming here completely and ignore any and all Pokemon related news.

I learned tons of shit for Gen4 and Gen5 beforehand, and it was a thoroughly meh experience despite the games being pretty solid.
I put myself through information blackout for Gen6 and Gen7 and had a fantastic experience despite the games themselves being mediocre.

The Pokemon games have always been about the adventure to me. Exploring a new region and discovering all the new creatures for the first time through my game instead of some shitposter's leaks. This is where I get my enjoyment from the games, and why I can't be arsed enough to replay the older games. I know everything about them, so why do I care?
