An Alola port or a Kanto revisit (because if it's a retread of any kind to start a new system, it'd never be anything but a Kanto one) are the most likely ones for them to be doing if it's to be released this year (which the new financials as good as confirm as happening, still listing it as 2018 as a possibility in fuckin' April).
Furthermore, both Nintendo and Masuda apparently don't like what they've recently done as Nintendo has stated they don't like talking about games more than 6 months out and Masuda actually apologized for the lack on info to begin with for S/M which is probably why US/UM were announced so late.
