>>35424587Where exactly was this stated? I know the games started development in 2012, but whether it was April, November, whatever wasn't confirmed as far as I know.

https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/begun>>35424584There's no way the Switch game is coming out in early 2019. Almost every single main series Pokemon game came out in one of 3 months: September, October, and November. This is especially true now that every Pokemon game has simultaneous international releases. XY (October), ORAS (November), SM (November), and USUM (November). Pokemon is a big holiday title. They aren't going to release it sometime in early 2019.
The "2018 or later" possibility means one of the following:
1) Nintendo is uncertain of when the game will come out. The project's development is so uncertain at this point that both 2018 and 2019 are possibilities.
2) Nintendo hasn't been in recent communication with Game Freak and The Pokemon Company over when the game will be released. (Unlikely but still a possibility)
3) Nintendo is pushing for the 2018 holiday release, and Game Freak is trying its best to work to that deadline, but they are having difficulty.
4) On the page that specifies when certain games will come out (tentative release dates), Nintendo only changed those titles that they have officially announced the release dates for. Since they didn't announce anything about Pokemon Switch since January, they saw no reason to change it.
5) Nintendo is aware that people are looking at these financial reports for any possible hint of a 2018 or 2019 release window, so they deliberately decided not to change the date because they hate leaks.
