Dragon is the 'reptilian' type, and reptiles hate cold.

Dragon being se against itself is probably to make it seem more powerful, in addition to its resistance to four common types.

Well, honestly by removing fairy, since it kinda does what ice did but much better. Since that's not an option though, honestly I think that >>35427337 has the right idea, buffing it as a type with better moves. I also wish ice was better defensively, it gets absolutely pounded by some of the more common threats out there.

Ice isn't bad, it just got noticeably usurped from the one job it was amazing at (threatening dragons) by a new type that straight-up did it better. And Ice is one of the worst defensive types in the game as well, only resisting itself.

It probably needs to resist SOMTHING more then itself, offensively it is fine, in fact it is so fine using Ice moves without STAB is considered better then have the defensive dead weight you get.

Basically: Give em Resist or Immune to Water MINIMUM.

Give it a Stealth Rock variant, then give Hail weather the chance to inflict Freeze status and make it subject to crits and secondary effect odds. Now the defensive Ice types aren't built to actually tank sweepers, they're there to hang on through just "one more" attack while juggling things like Protect or flinching or attraction or confusion to bide more turns for weather damage to wither things down.

Something like this. You can try to argue that Ice should keep it's 'glass cannon' theme, but there's been maybe two pokemon to ever even fill that role, and since steel is now useable offensively, it'd be better to just make it a reasonably balanced type like pretty much most of them are.

No. We are well past the points where resistances and weaknesses should be what works thematically for the type. I'm sick of every custom type, or amendment to an existing one, yielding a bug or grass resist.

Grass is already resisted by 7 types; the answer to balancing Ice is not hurting the shit types. Make it resist fairy (which for whatever reason GF decided to resist bug, I think literally for Gardevoir sake)

Why not just give pokemon with shitty typing relative to their archetype better stats? Defensive stats already take 3 fucking slots that could be used for something that is both offensive and defensive, speed. That way you don't need to make wide sweeping changes that might break the game, just help the pokemon that need it.
