That's what makes this confusing to me. I know that this is not going to go anywhere. Want to know why? They haven't been doing the island challenge at all.

IIRC Alain didn't actually start the Kalos League challenge until late in the Kalos Kampaign. If they think there's money to be made, Team Rocket could probably rush the island challenge offscreen before the league happens, beat Ash in the finals, and get disqualified for some zany "capture all the challengers' Pokemon" scheme, thus giving /our retard/ his first regional league victory.
Not that any of that will happen, but could you imagine what this board would do if it did?

They technically did by complete accident. Mimikyu beat Totem Raticate fair and square to "win" the Darkinium Z it was guarding.

That's all the producers would need to have Team Rocket rush the island challenge offscreen. Their dedicated episodes have been very popular and entertaining.

I agree. If they ever got rid of them this show would end very soon. They keep a lot of fans watching the shows. Without their antics and comedy relief the ashnime would collapse.

We've seen TR do incredible feats in the anime when they get serious. Jessie in DP became a skillful coordinator and a Semifinalist in the Grand Festival.

James has been shown throughout the series he's skillful in specific pokemon sports. Hell, his pokemon all show great effection towards him so he's a great trainer.

TR just struggle when it comes to competitive battling and make simple mistakes. However, in SuMo they've gotten even better with the added Z-Ring and Z-Crystal. I can see them playing an important part in the future Necrozma arc or in an anime version of the Alola League. That would be fun to watch them in an official Pokemon tournament
