The Gentleman says that, in order to be the strongest trainer, you must sometimes be selfish and pick the strongest pokemon rather than your favourites.

It's like being on Showdown. A skilled battler should pick their favourite six pokemon and form strategies to win using those. But ultimately, if you wish to get on that Showdown Leaderboard, you must choose the Ubers and the best pokemon to get there.
