The point is one was planned as an encounter and the other wasn't you fucking mouthbreather. How hard is this to get. If a character isn't planned as an encounter they don't need a fucking team. If they'd planned for you to fight one of the BW protags they'd have a team. They didn't. End of story.

You absolute autists would complain that "his magic" would be lost if literally every player character became a NPC later on.
To not talk about the different genders the post gen 1 games protags have, there's no way both genders would get representation so you'd be mad if Dawn was the canon protag for DPP and Brandom the one for RSE or shit like that.
