I gotta agree.
First time playing Sun, I remember the Elite 4 having a decent degree of challenge.
X and Y giving the E4 4 Pokemon (and in general giving Gym Leaders a maximum of 3 Pokemon) was pretty stupid.

Here's my team, comprised of some of my Alolan favorites, good type coverage, not too many weaknesses of the same type, and without repeating types. The game is easy enough that I don't have to worry about using under-performing Pokemon.

Pyukumuku was there for Unaware and to Baton Pass (Z-, if the healing was necessary) Psych Up and/or Z-Purify boosts. Great for Totems/U. Necrozma, and is my favorite Pokemon.
Decidueye runs a Z-Tailwind crit set with Leaf Blade, Shadow Claw, and Brave Bird for coverage and if I wanted to use a Supersonic Skystrike nuke instead . Sky Attack over Brave Bird would be nice to abuse the 100% crit rate, but I didn't want to waste Tailwind turns or risk having to tank a hit during the charge up turn.
Didn't evolve Crabrawler because it looks better than its evo, Ice type is too debilitating, and can tank things with a Eviolite, a pass from Pyuku, and Bulk Up/Drain Punch.
The other 3 are just fun picks.

Hi, I haven't played pokemon in a long time but I want to play through White 2 with some certain pokemon for personal reasons. Is there any way to get a pikachu early in this game? I'll be playing on a physical cart not a flashcart so I can't use save file editors.

White 2's internet functions are down so GTS is a no-go.
You'd theoretically have to beat Black/White, which lets you transfer Pokemon from other DS games to it, get a Pikachu, transfer it to B/W, beat the first Gym in White 2, and trade the Pikachu to White 2.
At least, that's my theory.
Though Mareep is a good electric type you can grab before the first Gym as a replacement.

Also I'm not really familiar with pokemon tactics, is it still optimal to focus on 2-3 pokemon rather than a full team? And how do I build my pokemon with this new physical/special split?

In particular I must use Poliwag, Vanilluxe, and Chandelure.

It's definitely better to start a game with 2-3 rather than full team in a gen 5 game

Poliwag can't be obtained until the postgame so I recommend finding a different water type

For Vanniluxe i'd say catch a Vannilish in Giant Chasm towards the end of the game instead of trying to train up a Vannilite, trust me it'll save your sanity

You can get Litwick in Celestial Tower, and you'll need patience because Litwick is garbage until it evolves at a pretty high level and then you'll need a dusk stone

Team building in a story playthrough isn't as big a deal as it is in competitive. I usually just go with whatever will keep my team balanced in levels while also using Pokemon I like

And what exactly is involved in the "postgame"? I remember back when I played red I trained up a link battle team and I caught all the pokemon, but is there a specific 'final boss' or something in White 2?

Currently on the SS Anne. Made a few changes to my team. Traded a Spearow for Farfetch'd, and started using him instead of Pidgeotto. Also swapped out my Beedrill for Meowth. Cherry tapping enemies with pay day is fun.

I WOULD do that, but I kinda don't wanna break the game with a high-level UB.
Plus I don't use UBs in general.
Unless I obtain a hacked one from GTS somehow, Poipole is a no-go.

I tried Prism back a year and a half ago or so, but that game falls apart near the end. As for Nuzlockes, it all ends up the same. You're more or less guaranteed to be forced into a geodude/zubat/tentacool no matter the game. With other romhacks, Desmume runs like shit when playing anything that isn't PMD

Huh... It seems like a lot of romhacks and fangames have good ideas on paper (example: Reborn's level caps and field effects) but immediately falls apart due to something like an overly edgy, shitty story.
