Please, anything but this. One of the few aspects that kept Kanto as an enjoyable region was the exploration and free time you had before moving on with the main story. If this little shit ends up appearing in a Kanto remake while handholding you through a lot of the gameplay, it might just about challenge SM or DP for being the worst game.

in that regard, without the handholding i think the later regions could far surpass Kanto if thats all it has going for it. imagine exploring the Kalos region or even Alola if you didnt have to deal with the (((plot))). Kanto would seem pretty tepid by comparison

The game would be even more shallow because Alola's not a good region even if you take out the plot. Most routes are short straight lines and most trainers don't have more than two Pokemon to battle. Also there are no dungeons.The design of the region was an afterthought and it shows.
Kalos is a big maybe but still miles better than Alola

Annoying for the adult fans, but kids these days don't have long attention spans because they've been conditioned to expect instant gratification from their games.
As much as it might seem like dumbing down the game, Game Freak knows their target audience, and we aren't it. Adult fans are a niche.

Besides, Pokemon main quests already aren't hard. We breeze through them in a couple days, and spend the rest of the game's lifetime in battle facilities and wifi. Kids take longer in the pre-Elite Four side of things, so that portion of the game SHOULD be designed with them in mind.
