- GF don't reckon it's going to manage a 2018 release, but Nintendo are pushing for it
- Its a remake of sorts, but not DP
- People suggesting RB remakes might not be far off
- Technically not gen 8

Gen 8 is possible, and at first I thought it definitely would be Gen 8, but after some actual thought that seemed unlikely.

Without even getting into anything else that points towards the latter of these options, the lack of time alone says a port of Gen 7 or a redo of some kind of Gen 1 are far more likely.

Gen 7 port making the most sense since it's the first time a Gen couldn't be played on the newest handheld, but everything else pointing towards Kanto.

Because SM was underwhelming, USUM added nothing of note to SM, and people are crying out for a fresh generation of pokemon to excite and re-inspire them to play pokemon.

We've had about 26 months of Gen 7, and there were only about 60 new pokemon to be excited about. If we get Kanto AGAIN, we'll likely get no new pokemon for another year or maybe two.

Not all the pokemon gamers begun with Kanto, but all the players want some new Mons to use and know.
I don't think Nostalgia only could pull a massive success.
Also Pokemon would be one of the most wanted title for the Switch, i don't think they'll waste such an opportunity doing a mere rehash of the first gen.
Maybe a reboot but with massive changes and improvement(and new pokemons).
