/vp/, how do you enjoy playing through without Nuzlocking? How do you pick teams? Can you justify playing with suboptimal natures? There’s just so many options now and it’s difficult to enjoy the game knowing I’m going through without any real consequences or challenges (of course I turn EXP Share off).

I know what you mean. I play pokemon differently in waves, like for a period I shiny hunt, then nuzlocke, then normal playthroughs etc.

Going from a nuzlocke period to a normal playthrough period is fucking impossible, I have to have something in between
I dont think I enjoy normal playthroughs anymore though, but I still just power through them for the hell of it

I don't get why people need nuzlocke rules to keep themselves from making uber teams for a fucking single player game.

I play through with a (vague) theme team of pokémon I've never used before. Last team was "river" or something, in OR, with Treecko, Huntail, Croagunk, Swanna, Voltorb(?), and Castform. Rain Dance was central, Swanna and Croagunk had their appropriate Abilities to take advantage.
Next up is White, with the theme "Regigigas and weird", consisting of Regigigas, Yamask (Mummy!), Spinda (Skill Swap), Unown, Wynaut, and untwinked Smeargle.

Nuzlocking is autistic, just dont use any super effective moves and the games become incredibly hard some gym leaders are impossible to beat without being 20 levels above them and the E4 are impossible to beat.

FR/LG are pretty good starting nuzlocke games.
Not stupidly easy, but not overly difficult either. If you want a real challenge, try doing a nuzlocke of a rom hack then enjoy screaming at your emulator/phone

Then yes, FR/LG or HG/SS are good places to start. HG/SS is a little easier because of FR/LG's level curve, but it's not that much more difficult than HG/SS.
Alternatively, try GSC if you want more pokemon to choose from.
