Blastoise and venusaur are actually pretty creative.
Venusaur is unappreciated because his body type. People typically gravitate to the bipeds first off, and the more sleek design, and almost always the most draconic. Also Venusaur has a flower and that's "girly". But if you actually look that the color pallette of venusaur and the design of the flower on it's back, the design is actually pretty brilliant. IMO it is the most well designed starter from Gen 1.
