Ok, /vp/. I'm falling for the living dex meme. I think Im autistic enough to pull it off. But how the fuck do I do it? Can any anons that have tried it give me some advice?

Pretty similar to completing the dex "normally."
I like to number the PC boxes and just go down the line, filling in the blanks. Just go little by little and keep the end goal in mind.
It could also help to go one region at a time, like complete XY dex to start with.

I found it extremely fun and rewarding, but not everyone is the same, pretty much I just went slowly by Dec number. Only tip I can give is to use the deposit feature on the gts rather than the searching feature. Make sure your trades seem fair and they should get snapped up within an hour or so

Hopefully you've gotten all the event mons otherwise you'll always feel something missing. I missed Hoopa and Volcanion and they're the only two I need, not counting the upcoming yellow faggot.

3) get some picture of all Pokemon sprites
4) paste into paint
5) erase/cut sprites of Pokemon you own
6) repeat step 5 until completion

I made the background black so it was easier to look at and color coded sprites using the box tool. I think blue was "have something in line, can breed/evolve," pink was for friendship, red was for evolution stone/item, etc. You get the point, do what works for you. Being able to see what you're missing without having to look through 30 pc boxes is helpful.

Far easier than it seems. Pick your game and catch everything you can. Then use a checklist like this https://pokedextracker.com/ to sort every caught pokemon in the correct box.

Don't be an idiot and try to do it in order, just pick every pokemon and place it wherever it goes. Then start filling in the gaps. Be aware than stone, friendship, really high lv evos and incense baby mons are worth a lot on the GTS, eg, you can just simultaneously play with 6 eevees and trade sylveons for whatever you need, even low tier legends.

I finished my living dex without catching a single legendary.

The two I mentioned are distinct Pokemon, not just forms. If you're gonna go full dipshit I'm surprised you didn't include shiny forms or gender differences.

Leveling up is easiest in gen 6 (especially in ORAS with blissed bases). I worked the GTS for base forms of stuff I couldn’t easily find, and used Legendaries I had duplicates of as trade bait for Pokémon that evolve by trade. It’s really nice when you get it all in pokebank and can easily get shiny charm. For gen 7 you can get it on 2nd island.

Side question: how autistic am I for having a gen 7 living dex and gen 6 one?

It's fun to try and hunt down all of the pokemon available in game, but if you want it the easy way then GTS, GTS, GTS. Just breed a fossil/version exclusive/rare pokemon like glameow and throw them all up on GTS. Hardest part is legendaries, which you should be able to get a lot in USUM, and now that legendaries evolve, that makes it harder. Doing it between gens helps as well, a pokemon rare in your game my be a common encounter in ORAS/X

Now collecting events and other dumb shit like all the colosseum pokemon. Events suck because once you get to gen 4 theres little info on EVERYTHING and theres a fuck ton of Korea events for some reason.
