Because it's a mimic and therefore fights dirty in a way. It's also a parallel to Magneton who got the new steel type so this one should have gotten the new dark type.

Here's my idea for a Ledian change:
-18 ATK
New ability: "Boxer" - all punching moves hit six times.
It would be a bretty gud wallbreaker that falls apart against offensive teams that can outspeed and kill it.

Alolan (or whereever) form that's Bug/Fighting.

Bug/Steel as a Mega-like powerup would be cool, too. It's vaguely Kamen Rider or Super Sentai-ish, why not give it a humongous mecha?

Oh wow, now it has 55 attack, what a monster. And a bunch of low base power punching moves, none of which get STAB.

Not every pokemon needs to be a sweeper, I would like to see just a tone of great support moves given to ledian, faster/bulkier and prankster or some new support ability.

Wish, taunt, its own version of aurora veil, defog, destiny bond, parting shot, healing wish, and more. It would get some more use

Either that or give it an ability that sets trick room on switch in. It wouldn't make much sense but it would get use

for starters, something like those buffs from Blaze Black 2/Volt White 2 would be nice (offensive stats of 80/90/85 seem excessive though, maybe 60/70/75) and dropping its SpD by 20 to 90. This renders it slightly stronger than other mid-evo bugs.

Give it a Bug/Fighting, Bug/Flying and Bug/Fairy split Evo. to make Ledyba like Tyrogue but dual STABS.

Bug Fighting: HP 55 / Atk 90 / Def 100 / SpA 55 / SpD 85 / Spe 90 with Iron Fist or Hustle.

Bug Fairy: HP 55 / Atk 55 / Def 85 / SpA 190 / SpD 100 / Spe 90 with Pixilate or Super Luck.

Bug Flying: HP 25 Atk 97 / Def 87 / SpA 97 / SpD 87 / SpD 82 with Wonder Guard only.
