Mamoswine is an somewhat slow ice type done right. 80 speed but great abilties, amazing offense and great stabs and an average defense typing. weak to fighting and water, grass is more a defensive typing alongside steel but steel is used for fairies and Mamo has coverage vs both.
Compare that to Crabominable. If it was pure fighting but had an Ice version of Steelworker or Refrigerate it would do so much better but it has 6 weaknesses and unlike grass or bug+steel combos which cancel out or add some interesting and good niche resists it does absolutely no cancelling of fightings defense flaws. There are way to make ice types that are good and fufill a niche if only gamefreak can put together a good theme to work around with like an Ice+whatever pokemon with a special version of intimidate.
