Those are the only moves they need, unless you want another special Flygon with Screech or Sand Attack.

Alright, well let's fix it.

Lead with Gigalith to set up sand. Moveset changed to Stone Edge, Earthquake, Stealth Rock, and Iron Head.
Cradily now has Storm Drain. Set is Toxic, Giga Drain, Recover, and Protect.
Armaldo replaced with Aerodactyl because it isn't shit. Has Earthquake, Stone Edge, Aerial Ace, and Ice Fang.
Probopass can stay as is.
Lycanroc, unfortunately, has to stay. Give it No Guard with Stone Edge, Fire Punch, Crunch, and Iron Tail.
If we want a 6th, it'll be Tyranitar.

In a certain way it can be better. Back in the day you had Blue using trash moves. This way the AI can make less mistakes.

Still, the moves here suck balls. But you get the idea.

They did it later but too little too late really. I did learn that Armando got liquidation and gigalith got throat chop during the rematch though, so that was neat.

You have a "rivalry" with Calem/Serena - who the game tries to portray as a competent trainer - yet at level 60+ they're running the most basic sets. It's boring, there is no surprise. Instead of chesnaught having spiky shield he got 3 attacks. Instead of Greninja setting up spikes or substitute with his speed he got 3 attacks. Instead of Delphox disabling physical attackers with will-o-wisp and setting screens it got 3 attacks.

It's GF making it clear that you are supposed to be winning that fight; they were never a rival to begin with since they have no chance compared to you, the player. So Serena whining her way through Kalos over not being as strong as you is ultimately pointless. She's never supposed to have a chance.

Cheren and Barry are the best rivals because they actually make an effort, they use new items and moves etc, they continue to level and come back to try and best you. X/Y rival shows up, loses, cries and then comes back trying nothing new only to lose and cry again.

I'd say Hau is the better of the 3DS rivals since he acts like the joke rivals have turned into.

They got higher level Pokémon yeah but there's no items in Gen 1, silver doesn't use them in the gen they are introduced and Wally doesn't use them until ORAS. They're just using higher level versions of their Pokémon. Even Barry doesn't use held items. But at least all his Pokémon have full movesets.

Not really sure why the Earth Power is there, cause isn’t it Fire neutral? Needs something to deal with Ground types.
But all in all, her rematch Probopass is hardly the worst.

Why do people get riled up over number of moves when you know it's controlled by AI and will likely only use one move all battle long anyways? Taking a way an option is a way for developers to ensure the AI makes certain move choices.

The AI calculates which move does the most damage and uses that, unless it can use a status move or your Pokemon is on low health. Giving the AI more moves has no drawbacks, it's not like it just picks a move at random.

pokemon games are not designed to be challenging or fun anymore.

they are designed to put you to sleep, a guranteed win and literally no difficulty curve at all while playing the campaign is gamefreak's goal. It's why the new pokemon games are no where near as fun or replayable as the old unless you battle strangers online.

Pressing A to win without putting any thought into anything completely gets rid of any feeling of accomplishment or "ah-ha" moment. its why all the trainer battles are so hand holdy now (especially with exp all and all the other broken overpowered bs they throw at you at the beginning of the game without you having to work for it)

lol i've never seen such hardcore shilling and bootlicking in my life.

no, this wasn't "a choice gamefreak made to make the game more strategic and challenging". the AI trainer battle doesn't pick moves at random like wild pokemon battles. They calculate which moves do the most damage then use them.
