My character was a deep wilderness ranger, skilled in first aid and survival. His 'mon were an Onix (mobile shelter) a slugma (Living campfire) and a gastly (Sentry and recon)
His job was making sure the various herds never got too close to the towns, hunted dangerous 'mon that were too much of a threat, and rescued any poor soul who got lost out in the wilds. He acquired a few scars over the years, losing an eye to a Sneasel ambush in the tundra, and getting his arm burnt to a charred mass trying to save his Slugma from a mass of very hungry joltiks.
We were using a homebrew system, modified from the pokemon system crafted by /tg/
The DM ran the world as post apoc, the various god 'mon rising up to strike a hubris filled humanity. Advanced technology common place in the pokemon world was uncommon but not extinct, and we found various research labs attempting to further weaponize pokemon.
It was never a "OW THE EDGE" kinda game, but it had a dark tone. Failure on our part left several villages depopulated. One had its river polluted by a swarm of muks, another was decimated by swarms of angry bees coming from a twisted forest.
