But FOR THE MOST PART, whenever gamefreak added a cross gen evolution, they usually add a new mechanic to justify why that pokemon didn't evolve in a previous gen. New eeveelutions? It's a stone, or happiness, or amie, etc none of which existed in gen 1. Even yanmega/mamoswine make sense because they didn't learn ancient power before gen 4. Now why they can suddenly use ancient power is a different story, but movesets have always been fluid. Same with lickilicki
