Why doesn't Alola in the SM anime look as good as the Orange Islands?

Alola's colors feel really cold, especially that green that looks almost blue for 90% of vegetation

it looks better to me so i guess its just taste? i dont really see how one could be superior though, they both look pretty similar. the sand looks better on orange islands but the water and detail in the far background are better on SM. at least thats what i see.

Because Orange Island is hand drawn which gives it a more personal and realistic feel. SM uses digital coloring which gives it a wider range of color but oversaturated the environment. If you've ever been on an island the water and trees aren't that green and blue as SM depicts its more like Orange Island.

SM colors are retarded af and give a very cold feel to the whole thing

Still warmer and more realistic than SM color wise
It's really a shame that altho the anime improved a lot in backgrounds design since the OS, they still find a way to ruin it all with shitty colors....

I don't get this. Right from the OP image Alola looks much warmer compared to the Orange Islands, which look pretty cold themselves.

The problem with Alola is that its suffering from the absurd neon green the anime has been doing since Sinnoh.

You can still give digital a handpainted feel. It's probable that because it's digital, they have to make the colors "legal" instead of hazarding guesses on color mixes.

TV regulation standards can get like that, unfortunately.

The production of the anime in general is fucked up, relegating every single aspect to computers disregarding the aspect of hand draw killed every shred of soul just to optimize budget.

This isn't an issue with Pokemon specifically.

this. I think we're seeing Pokemon and most post 2000 animes lose their souls when they switched over to digital. I'm not hating on digital because it has helped a lot of animes but they're using wrong. Digital vs hand is what we're seeing in Pokemon Ever since DP when they switched over the anime has become too oversaturated in colors and don't look like a unique region in the Pokemon world. In fact, Dp through SM look like the same areas. When Pokemon was mostly hand drawn you felt a more connection to the region. The digital coloring should've only brought out the colors and cut down the time to create CERTAIN scenes.
