The next Pokémon game is going to be a Switch exclusive and supposedly might even be released in 2018. The new Smash Brothers is also only going to be on Switch. The gig is up, its fucking over for 3DSfags.

I feel your pain, though. My 2012 3DS was falling apart so I bought a new one just a few months ago, and I sort of regret it. It's probably too close to the end of its life to have been worth it.

Fuck bros... Even with a used 2DS it might run me $100+. Money that could go towards the Switch. Pokémon Switch is a “””reboot””” which means it might be radically superior with vastly different game mechanics, especially with the huge hardware advantage, although that may just be marketing hype. How do the new Pokémon games compare? I see a lot of people around here calling them a flop, though I imagine most of that is just shitposting. Is the endgame content good? I’m caught up on the new Pokémon and metagame, but not the quality of life improvements and stuff.

I have money I’m just trying to be financially responsible. I have a weird aversion to spending money when it’s not technically “worth it”. I’d rather grind 4 hours for something in a game than spend $5 on it even though I get like $30 an hour.

Not getting a console because 'it's almost dead' is the most backwards shit I've ever heard. Now is the best possible time to get into it. There's almost the most games it will ever get, with a few throwaway ports and stuff to round out the library throughout 2018. The 3DS has a massive and quality library meaning whether you want to play Pokemon or not, it's a good idea to get one. Fuck, you could just get Yellow and Crystal and make it a dedicated Gen 1/2 console if you'd like.

2DS is literally 80 fucking dollars, and comes with a free digital game. Just get it. Or you can get a used one cheaper. Maybe a hacked one then you can save money on all of the games which pays for itself.

Even though you can't think of a lot of games you want really bad, there are tons of games and likely you'll find some other shit worth buying. I recommend Rhythm Heaven Gold

I'd tell you how shit it is but since your last game was Diamond I guess you won't miss anything cool anyway.

With a 3DS you can play literally all games except FRLG and original RSE. And you can transfer everything to Pokébank and to Switch later. (But you may have problems finding some of them like HGSS now)

If money is tight, wait for an announcement of the Switch game before deciding. I am waiting for a Switch redesign to get it (Nintendo is Nintendo) and will not get Pokémon until that happens.

You can find used 2ds for around 50$ I think, so you could get a system plus the game for less than 100$. Even if the 3ds is on its last legs (which I don't think it is), it has a really great library and I think it's worth it to get one anyway for that alone.
