Atleast Gen 5 had an event item, Gen6 and 7 literally just dropped that shit

You can't just say they should all never happen just cause one that happened to be a favorite of yours got an evolution you think is inferior to the original. What, should things like that just not advance because of the OFF CHANCE that it might end up not in your favor?

How can a future Kanto evo even be a "gen 4" Kanto evo, anyway? What does that mean? That an evolution could look "worse" to you? It's not like Lickitung was "replaced" or anything; he's still there!

it's not like it matters anyway since different people have different tastes and this will all just never be real anyway

as an idea they are fine, but they did it for already good/popular pokemon instead of ones that actually needed it.

now my own list:
>z-moves
>shitty "friend" rivals
>pointless legendaries being handed out
>event legendaries that have no story other than "here"
>cutscene heavy hand-holding
>heavy hand-holding in general
>pokemon i get in early routes not evolving until i get to almost the end of the game
>shitty post game content
>insanely obnoxiously hard to find pokemon that just flat out suck dick and don't even remotely become good
>half-assed ideas shoved into a third version but adding nothing of any real substantial value

basically most of SUMO and USUM. those games are pretty much a giant checklist of how to make pokemon suck

Like holy fuck, combine Mega Stones into one single stone that only works if the mon can mega evolve. Same with Z-Crystals, but just allow you to choose the type when you equip it. Let the player get three of each just in case some people bitch about not having the options. Also combine memories and plates.

Or you know, give us a fucking item PC back.

He's not wrong, a lot of interviews go into specifics about not wanting it to be permanent. There was one in particular saying that players didn't like losing their pokemon but I can't seem to find it.

But mega evolution already exists. The cat is out of the bag. All they can do is make it postgame only and keep it to smaller and smaller percentage of Pokémon and having mega evolution exist for those Pokémon only is really lame even if you don't like megas.

to be fair all previous features wouldn't take much room to implement.
