I get it, Kanto isn't for everybody. But your other mons still exist. Your regions and games still exist and they do matter. Gen 4 remakes will happen eventually, but until then, we should be hyped for more Kanto.

Because who the hell cares if we've been through a region already?
It's not like the plot will be any different. 8 Gyms or 8 Trials, local bird, local rodent, local bug, Team Whatever, final encounter with box legend before you reach Victory Road, Elite Four.

At least with Kanto, Game Freak can't fuck it up. The game already has a balanced level curve, and enough story beats and distractions between Gyms that you're not hurtling through locations at light speed, like in Alola.

I'd rather get my hopes up and then be disappointed then just be disappointed for the beginning.
Also you make it seem as if doing the same thing over again but with different characters and setting is a bad thing. Thats how pokemon has always worked. Why would we want to replay the most boring game in the series? Genwunners would like it sure, but nothing would change. It would be just a bland game with higher quality.

Kanto is the plainest region of all, it's just dull and boring. Possibly due to the fact we've played through it 4 times already, but it just doesn't have any appeal. Pokemon for the Switch is most likely going to be a brand new game, they aren't going to use a crappy re-remake for their launch onto a new platform.

Bitch I played Gen 1 and the Gen 3 remakes so many times I'd be able to beat that game in a day. Anything other than Red 2/Blue 2 in the vein of Black 2/White 2. 20 years later, shit changed, etc etc. New gym leaders in some spots, new Pokemon migrated to Kanto. Kantonian forms. Unironically excited for this. The locations actually have a lot of potential. I’d weirdly be excited to see the routes for some reason, especially around Lavender and Fuchsia. Kanto for me is a nice mix of urban and natural without any big sudden leaps like Kalos and I want to see what they’d do with it graphically now that there aren’t really too many limitations.

Not breaking continuity - the newer gen pokémon didn't exist back then, so in the re-tellings (which they want to keep as faithful as possible, while upgrading the game experience) they add in some esoteric way of finding later gen 'mons (Sevii Islands, Hoenn/Sinnoh sound on the radio, Dexnav, hell I expect to get the pokéradar much earlier than usual in the Sinnoh remakes and we'll use that to find Gen V and up 'mons with that)

I hope it's something like sequels. Takes place 20 years after the originals. Expand the map, add new characters, maybe even throw in some new Pokemon that's just been discovered.

And if they're REALLY ballsy:

- Dodrio: Normal/Rock

And on the flip side of that:

Make them experience actual evolution. I'm a hardcore Kantofag but I don't need to see Kanto in-game ever again unless it's significantly changed. I'm talking either a "20 years later" GSC sequel, or a major overhaul of the region, to the point where it's more like a reimagining than a remake. At this point in time there's no excuse for not making Saffron a massive bustling city and not making Cinnabar into a decently-sized island with a tube volcano on it like it was always intended to be. Add a boatload of extra dungeons (Cinnabar Volcano, some underground shit, Route 14 windfarm). Since they can't do traditional Game Corners anymore, instead of lazily opting out they could do some cool fanservice like turning the Game Corner machines into Pokemon Pinball machines, packed with references to the original game. Give the Gym Leaders their Pokemon Stadium 1 and 2 teams for post-E4 rematches. If they want to get really freaky with it they could reimagine some of the cut content for Gen 1, like the final Oak battle, or make new forms out of the Generation 1 sprite errors like the giant Exeggcute and the horizontal-shelled Cloyster.

There's plenty of stuff they COULD do with Kanto, but let's get real. If they do Kanto again we're getting FireRed and LeafGreen almost untouched but in 3D and probably without the Sevii Islands to boot. Game Freak are lazy cunts and if they're not going to pull out all the stops then there's no point going back there or any of the regions for that matter. Don't do a remake/revisit of any old game if your hearts aren't in it, Game Freak.

Just because the games were flat due to technical limitations (and then the remakes were too faithful) doesn't mean that the region is "plain". Entire northern region and the west reaches are mountainous. Lavender-Fuchsia stroll is hills and forests, really the only "plain" region in the game is the central region between Cerulean and Vermillion (which makes sense) and between Pallet and Viridian. Base the new Kanto off of that and you can create a fantastic and diverse land. "Kanto is flat and boring" is a bullshit argument in the context of modern game development and constant retconning.
