I ended up owning all games except Crystal and Heart Gold anyway. I had Heart Gold until it magically disappeared when I gave it to my step sister to play for a bit, never found it again.

The best memories I had were with Sapphire, so it’s fitting that I began with Hoenn & ended with Hoenn as well. Hope 8 can somehow pull me back into interest.

Went with Yellow as a kid since i tried out Red at a buddy's place but wasn't interested in continuing it until the pokecraze began with the anime. For the rest of my choices, i usually went with the legendary that was more badass to get. Moon was the exception since it was decrypted soon enough with a outline patch

If Pokémon Switch is 8th gen I'll choose whichever cover legendary is the edgiest, if it's a reboot/remake whichever is the Red version.

Ived cared less in the 3DS gen since the GTS is so easily accessible. I went moon for Gen 7 both times since I usually play in the evening and it's nice to see daytime past 6pm.
