posted these in a recolor threads before. ive done a ton of these but these are the ones i like most. bulbasaur-meganium is alternate colors/alt shinies, everything after that is a color swap of its evolution assuming the pokemon changes color when it evolves

MSpaint + eraser tool. color pick the color you want to change with left click then right click the color you wanna turn it into. erase over the color while holding right click

I use GIMP, just select by colour, doppler a colour from the other sprite and drag it over the selection to fill in all pixels of that colour with the selected colour.

These are just palette swaps in Photoshop of the gif animations, unfortunately. I started a project last year re-saturating all the textures for washed-out Pokemon for SM, but it was too much work for me.

At this point I'll just be waiting for the Switch release, and if they are still washed out I'll create the fixed textures for that. I'm not a huge fan of XY/SM, so the urge to get them fixed in those games aren't too high.

I like midday's blue eyes on midnight form Lycanroc but I can't really say the same for the fur color. Probably due to how the mane and fur color are too similar.

Photoshop has something called the "Save for Web" tool that allows you to palette swap animations, so it's not a huge undertaking. Probably 7 minutes per swapped Pokemon.

These are so interesting, and it's made me wonder. Would it be possible to use the same concept to make gen 6 and 7 Pokemon less washed out and approximate what their colours would have been like as older gen sprites?

I get that it's supposed to mimic Sugimori's style but the end result comes out looking like the colors have been bleached. Would honestly prefer the palette edit since it more closely resembles what I imagine the sprite in 3D to look like. I never really noticed just how accurate the models look until the color is corrected
